Now that fall is creeping in, we are craving hot drinks in the chilly mornings and evenings, and this Mexican style hot chocolate is a big family favorite!

This is a South-of-the-border twist on traditional hot chocolate, and it will satisfy any chocolate craving to the fullest!

Made with whole food ingredients, it is a completely guilt free chocoholic treat.

Plus, it only takes about 3 minutes to make!!

You will need: Milk, Vanilla, Raw Cacao Powder (cocoa powder will work), Raw sugar (sucanat or rapadura), Sea Salt, and Cinnamon.

Mix 1 cup of milk, 1 Tablespoon of sucanat, 2 teaspoons of cacao powder, a pinch of salt, a pinch of cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla in a small saucepan.

Heat on medium-high for about 2 minutes, then pour into a mug.

Now wasn’t that easy? I promise, you will never go back to a pre-packaged hot chocolate after this!

* If you want a little extra kick, you can add a tiny pinch of cayenne powder to your hot chocolate as well!

  4. This Mexican style hot chocolate recipe sounds pretty amazingly delish! I have heard of adding a pinch of cayenne to really get the flavors to pop! but haven’t tried it. Maybe now is the time and this recipe is the one to use!

    This is how you make hot chocolate! Years ago I vacationed in Oaxaca Mexico and this is exactly how it was made! (the only thing they did differently was whisk it by hand while it was in the pot). Yum!
